Do I need to book in advance?
Yes. All visits are currently by pre-booked arrangement only. Send us a booking request or email huftmbooking@gmx.com.
When are you open?
9am to 3pm on Wednesdays and Saturdays, from 1 April to 31 October. We close over the winter, from 1 November to 1 April, to keep our energy costs down. Exact dates can shift a little with the weather, so check our news and social media.
Are you open on bank holidays?
We open every Wednesday and Saturday in season. Visits are pre-booked only.
How much does it cost?
We don’t charge for entry and run on donations alone. We suggest £10 per adult, which is in line with UK aviation museum admission, and £5 for under 16s. Under 3s are free.
Is there a car park?
Yes, there’s plenty of free parking on site next to our reception building.
Can I take photos?
Photography is not allowed inside the Wing Hangar museum building, to protect our intellectual property. Personal photos are fine outside, but please don’t include the neighbouring site to the south in the background. Taking or storing photos of other visitors without their consent is not permitted.
Can I fly a drone over the site?
No. Visitors may not use drones on site, except by special arrangement with the museum management made well in advance.
Is there a café?
Not yet, but hot drinks are available to all visitors for a small donation.
Can I bring children?
Children of all ages are welcome. We have a learning quiz and a very popular RC flight simulator for younger visitors. Under 16s must be accompanied and supervised by a responsible adult at all times. We suggest a donation of £5 for under 16s; under 3s are free.
Can I bring a carer?
Yes. A carer or personal assistant comes free with a paying visitor. Please bring ID, such as your PIP letter or staff ID if you’re visiting with an organisation, and mention it when you book so we can plan for your needs.
Can I bring my dog?
Pets can’t come into the Wing Hangar or the reception building. Elsewhere on site they must be on a lead and never left unattended. Please bring water and poo bags.
What about assistance dogs?
Assistance and guide dogs are welcome in the museum and reception buildings. Please keep them on the lead and bring water and poo bags.
Do you offer guided tours?
Yes, for all visitors, and especially for groups. Let us know what you’d like when you book.
Is the museum accessible?
All ground floor areas are wheelchair accessible. The control room is up a flight of stairs, but we can offer a video presentation of it if you ask when booking. More about accessibility.
